Devotion of First Saturdays of the month at the Pauline church

is propagated from the very beginning i.e. after the Pauline Fathers returned to Warsaw, and then since 1950. Even then the prior of the Pauline monastery Fr. Ludwik Nowak showed with great zeal to the people of Warsaw broken by painful experiences of occupation how to honor the Blessed Mother. At the Church of the Holy Spirit were formed so called “Threes” which gathered the girls willing to sacrifice their lives and virginal love to the Blessed Mother. By the common work and prayer and the sharing of abode, they compensated Jesus and His Mother for infidelity of the world.

Over the following years, the devotion always enjoyed a keen interest in the Church of the Holy Spirit.

Among the many religious who were engaged in the ministry of the faithful taking part in the First Saturdays devotion, Father Krzysztof Kotnis deserves special mention. A zealous priest, confessor of the elites of Warsaw, devoted servant of Mary, advocate of conceived life and fighter for purity of thought and written words, especially in youth magazines.

During his life devotion of reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, though in the unfavorable political system of the Homeland, experienced a real heyday.

To this day in the Church of the Holy Spirit, every first Saturday of the month, the faithful gather to compensate Mary for the insults she receives from the people.

In this intention the Holy Mass is celebrated at. 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., followed by a reparation service with rosary prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

Currently the pastor of the “First Saturdays” of the month is Father Bogdan Waliczek.

If you want to compensate for the sins with which the world hurts the Heart of the Mother

we invite you to pray.

In 1917 in Fatima, Portugal, the Blessed Mother appeared to three children: Francis, Hyacinth, and Lucia. She came for the next six months, from May to October, every thirteenth day of the month. In August Beautiful Lady appeared later, because on the 13th day the children were imprisoned. Upon appearing for the second time, on June 13, Our Lady announced that she would soon take Francis and Hyacinth to heaven, and Lucia would stay because Jesus wanted to use her to establish a devotion to Her Immaculate Heart in the world. On that day, the children saw the Immaculate Heart of Mary insulted by the sins of humanity, which was symbolized by the thorns that surrounded it. Mary also told the children and the other gathered:

I want you to recite the rosary every day.

Another time Our Lady asked to offer prayers and sufferings for the sinner’s intentions:

Pray, pray a lot, and make mortification for sinners, because many souls go to hell, as no one wants to mortify and intercede for them (August).

The children also saw the terrifying vision of hell. Our Lady said to them:

You saw the hell that the souls of poor sinners get to. To save them, God wants to establish a devotion to my Immaculate Heart in the world. If they do what I tell you, many souls will be saved and experience peace …. I will come to request the dedication of Russia to my Immaculate Heart and the Holy Communion of Reparation on the first Saturday of the month. If they hear my requests, Russia will convert and peace will begin (July 13).

Seven years after the end of the Fatima apparitions, Our Lady allowed the sister Lucia to reveal the contents of the second part of the Fatima mystery. Its object was a devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

On 10 December 1925, Mary and Child appeared to Lucia and showed her a heart surrounded by thorns. The child said:

Have compassion with the Heart of Your Most Blessed Mother, surrounded by thorns, which the ungrateful people are hurting again, and there is no one who, by the act of reparation, would have thorns plucked out.

Mary said:

My daughter, look, my Heart is surrounded by thorns, which the ungrateful people by blasphemy and ungratefulness are constantly hurting. At least you try to bring me joy and declare in my name that I will come at the hour of death with the graces needed for salvation to those who for five months on the first Saturdays will go to confession, receive Holy Communion, recite one Rosary and during fifteen minutes of meditation on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary will accompany me in the intention of compensation.

Why five reparation Saturdays devotions?

My daughter, said Jesus, is about five kinds of insults that offend the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

  1. Insults against the Immaculate Conception, 2. Against Her Virginity, 3. Against Her Divine Motherhood, 4. Insults, through which it is tried to instill in the hearts of children indifference, contempt, and even hatred towards the Blameless Mother, 5. Blasphemies that insult Mary in Her holy images.

Confession on the first Saturday of the month

Lucia presented Jesus with the difficulties that some souls had about confession on Saturday and asked for holy confession to be eight days valid. Jesus answered: It may be even longer valid, provided that people are in a state of grace when they receive Me and that they are going to make reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Confession is to be made for reparation for the insults of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. On the first Saturdays, confession may be made for the intention of reparation for one of the five insults Jesus speaks of. An intention can be aroused when preparing for confession or in the process of receiving absolution. Before confession the following or similar prayer can be recited:

God, I now wish to join the sacrament of reconciliation in order to receive forgiveness for my sins, especially for those with which I deliberately or unconsciously inflicted pain on the Immaculate Heart of Mary. May I by this confession obtain your mercy for myself and for the poor sinners so that the Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph in our midst.

You can also recite an act of contrition when receiving absolution:

God, be merciful to me sinner, especially for my sins against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Holy Communion on the first Saturday of the month

After receiving the Holy Communion a reparation intention should be inspired. The following or similar prayer can be recited:

The Most Blessed Virgin, Mother of God and My Mother! In unity with your Son, I want to compensate you for the sins of so many people against your Immaculate Heart. In spite of my own misery and ineptness, I want to do everything to compensate for these insults and blasphemies. I wish, Holy Mother, to worship you and wholeheartedly love you. For this is what God expects of me. And just because I love you, I will do all I can to make all worship and love you. And you, the nicest Mother, Escape of sinners, accept the act of compensation that I am giving you. Accept it also as an act of reparation for those who do not know what they say, in ungodly cursing you. Ask God for their conversion so that your maternal goodness, power, and mercy will be further enhanced by the grace given to them. May they also join in this homage and bless your holiness and goodness, proclaiming that you are blessed among the women, the Mother of God, whose

Immaculate Heart keeps on loving each and every human being. Amen.

The Rosary of Reparation on the first Saturday of the month

After each decade of the Rosary you should recite the Prayer of the Angel of Fatima

Act of Reparation:

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, keep us from the fire of hell, bring all the souls to heaven, and help especially those in most need of your mercy.

It is recommended to recite the Rosary of reparation for the insults done to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is recited in the same way as an ordinary Rosary, except for the Hail Mary, where after the words “and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus”  you include the following invocations, a different one in each mystery:

  1. Keep and multiply our faith in your Immaculate Conception! 2. Keep and multiply in us faith in your unbroken virginity! 3. Keep and multiply in us faith in your true dignity of the Mother of God! 4. Keep and multiply our honor and love for your images! 5. Enkindle in all hearts the fire of love and perfect devotion to you!

Fifteen minutes of meditations on the fifteen mysteries of the rosary on the first Saturday of the month

(We give examples of topics of meditation on the first joyful mystery).

  1. First recite the introductory prayer:

United with all the angels and saints in heaven, I invite you, Mary, to reflect on the mysteries of the holy Rosary, which I want to do in the honor and the glory of God and for the salvation of souls.

  1. It is important to recall the Gospel account (Luke 1: 26-38). Read the text slowly, in the spirit of deep prayer.
  2. With humility lean on the mystery of your salvation revealed in this mystery of the rosary. Meditation can be guided by the following points:
  3. a) Reflect on the angelic message addressed to Mary.

The central point of this event is not someone great, learned and famous in the world, but modest and humble Mary. – Consider the importance of the virtue of humility. -God does not look at the outward appearance, but on the inside, the beauty and richness of the soul – Consider how differently God evaluates us than the world does. – The Angel, who greets Mary, looks to her as his Master and Queen. “Queen of Angels “-we greet Mary in the Litany of Loreto – Reflect on the greatness of the exaltation of your Mother. – As long as the sinful people following the example of the Angel revere and greet the Mother of God, they may hope that they will not perish. If someone greets Mary with faith, it is opposed to Satan and joins the ranks of good spirits. – Consider the mystery of access to salvation through union with Mary.

  1. b) Reflect on the answer of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Mary says: “Behold the handmaid of the Lord. ” She gave this answer with faith, with humility and immeasurable love. – Reflect on the faith and humility of Mary. – This statement shows the disposition of the Heart of Mary. From her you can learn to respond to God’s command, wishes and dispositions – Consider how you can answer to God with acquiescence full of humility and love. – Mary’s response embraces admirable and miracle-making faith. – Inspire in yourself the desire of vivid, strong and unshakable faith.

  1. c) Reflect on the Incarnation of the Son of God.

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us “- Reflect on this a miracle. – At this point, all of the heavenly ghosts worship God incarnate in the womb of the Blessed Virgin. – Together with them, pray for profound humility of heart and show readiness to fulfill all that God expects of you.

  1. Then unite with Mary in trusting prayer. Recite intently Litany of Loreto. At the end pray:

Heavenly Father, according to Your will, expressed in a message of an angel, your only-begotten Son was made man in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Listen to my prayers and let me find with You a support at Her intercession, because I recognize Her with faith as the true Mother of God. Amen.

  1. At the end, arouse in yourself a spiritual resolutions.
  • I will love wholeheartedly the Blessed Mother, and every day give Her honor.
  • I will learn from Mary to obediently fulfill the will of God that the Lord shows me every day.
  • I’ll arouse in me a devotion to my guardian angel.

For the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary

We present this content in order to give aid to all those who wish to officiate the first Saturdays. But even such assistance may be ineffective, because Satan, the enemy of Mary and the enemy of our salvation will multiply obstacles to distract people from the celebration of this devotion. Therefore, we recommend to pray to the Archangel Michael, to ask for the needed support in heaven.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
